04/02/09 Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla)
Place: Jerez-Los Barrios Road A-381 (close to Barbate Marshes).
Observers: Alvaro Bernal and Jose Manuel Vázquez. Comments: Alvaro and
Jose Manuel, members of the forest protection group, found a very
debilitated adult bird a large distance from the coast.

Place: The West beach of La Linea (next to the border of Gibraltar).
Observers: Javier Espinosa , Ricardo Campos, Francisco Delgado, David
Cuenca and Darío Delgado. Comments: 68 Individuals, the majority
adult, a mixed raft on the sea with Black-headed Gulls(Larus ridibundus)
and Yellow-legged Gulls (Larus michahellis).

Place :Marismas de Chapatal (Sanlucar de Barrameda).Observer: Richard Banham.Comments: In addition to this bird also present in the area were
1 Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), 2 Caspian Terns (Sterna caspia), 1 Great
White Egret (Egretta alba) and around 300 Common Cranes (Grus grus) in
flight.

Place : Junta de los Ríos (Genal and Guadiaro confluence ). Ringer :
Richard Banham . Comments: A full grown winter plumaged male. Only 2 other
birds of this species were ringed here in September 2006

Place : Río Guadalmansa. Observer:Richard Banham.Comments:A bird seen
flying with a number of Crag Martins (Ptyonoprogne rupestris).
10/01/09 Osprey (Pandion haliaetus)
Place: Rio Palmones marsh. Observers:Francisco J. Cazalla, Ricardo
Campos and David Cuenca. Comments: A species that winters at the salt
marsh. Up to a total of 7 individuals could be seen simultaneously in
the area.

Campos and David Cuenca.Comments: A single adult.In addition there were
5 Spoonbill
(Platalea leucorodia), 1 Caspian tern (Sterna caspia), 1 female Tufted
duck (Aythya fuligula) and 1 Short eared Owl (Asio flammeus).

Place : Rio Palmones marsh. Observer:Darío Delgado. Comments: The bird
appeared in front of the observatory in the El Torrejón park (El
Rinconcillo) ,feeding on the pasture.

Place : Rio Palmones marsh . Observers: Ricardo Campos and Francisco J. Cazalla. Comments:The bird was seen flying over the marsh late afternoon.

ring was read from a distance with a telescope. In addition to this
marked individual , there were 3 other birds around the marshes.

Place: Laguna del Taraje (Puerto Real). Observers:Ricardo Campos,

Comments: A flock of 62 geese were seen on the pastures by the laguna.

were noted.

from a distance with a telescope.The bird had been ringed on 10/06/08 in
Schiermonnikoo, Holland.
8/12/08 White Stork (Ciconia ciconia).
Place : La Janda. Observers: Ricardo Campos and Francisco J.
Cazalla.Comments: This bird was ringed in June 2008 in Wilhelmshaven
(Germany) and recovered dead next to a canal in La Janda.
