05/02/09 The occurrence in only three weeks of 2 deep depressions giving extremely violent W.winds continues to give very interesting seabird observations . This afternoon a Glaucous Gull appeared on Los Lances beach (Tarifa).

24/01/09 Due to stormy S.W.winds through the Strait these past few days, numerous groups of Kittiwakes and Little gulls are seen passing along
our coastline. More info…

 

 

21/01/09 Record of wintering Ospreys on the salt marshes of the Palmones river . On the 10th.January several members of GOES counted up to a total of 7 different individuals in the area the salt marsh.

 

 

06/01/09 An Egyptian Goose was discovered on the salt marsh of the Palmones river in front of the observatory in the Torrejón Park (El Rinconcillo).

 

20/12/08 20th.March-April 1st.2009 Dr.Richard Banham, a member of GOES, will lead another ringing programme within the Mediterranean Field Course organised by the Dr. William Hughes of the University of Leeds (United Kingdom) at the Urra Field Station, within the Paraje Natural of the Karst in Yesos de Sorbas (an Andalucian Conservation area)

 

 

08/08/08 The body of one of the young bearded vultures (Gypaetus barbatus) reintroduced in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas was found. This took place only 4 months after it appeared another individual had been shot
